The Great Wall of Chocolate!!!

Hello, so I thought I would write a quick post on some amazing food... Chinese food to be precise. We live close to a restaurant called Chang's, we have been there once before and the food is really really amazing. It is quite big, but the atmosphere is really relaxing and cozy. To begin I had a cocktail called the "Chinese 88 Martinin" which was gin with some kind of lime mixture... I can't remember exactly and Jose had a Caipirinha, which is brazilian so i think i was being the more culturally appropriate drinker. We then had a noodle dish called Dan Dan Noodles, with chicken and veggies and peanuts...it's heavenly and then we had a honey chicken dish. The big surprise was the desert, we ordered the caked "The Great Wall of Chocolate".....and it really was a wall. When Jose took the picture I put my hand next to it so it is easier to put the size into perspective! Anyway it was a really lovely meal and nice to just spend some time together. This week has been really busy for both of us, I have 5 classes now, so that means waking up at 5.55, getting on the the bus by 6.30 and starting my class at 7, them three days a week i finish at 6.30 and two days a week I finish at 8.45, along with the gym and class planning, its the busiest I have been in a while. I am really learning lots, English particularly haha but also just about being a working lady haha... makes me miss school! i really enjoy the job, i am starting to really get to know my students and Mexico City too!
This Saturday we are going to the wedding and then I plan on sleeping for most of the weekend!
Okay i think that's it for now xxxxxx

El grito! Viva Mexico!

Amazing dia de la independencia!

Some pictures and videos from the 15th of September, Mexican Independence day. It was a great night, everything was really organized and the crowds were not an insane as I thought they would be. Looking back it feels really good to have been a part of the day, the atmosphere was great and seeing Lila Downs in concert was something i didn't expect to happen. Overall a really good experience :-)

p.s the lady singing with the white scarf is Lila Downs, really wonderful voice and crazy dancing :-)

Viva mexico!!!!

Vivaaaa Mexico! Today is the 15th of September :) That means celebration of 200 years of independence. There are flags everywhere and people are dressed in green white and red.. I think I will take some good pictures and videos tonight so you can see how it is. at the Angel statue close to us are different concerts and all down Reforma. There is also supposed to be amazing show in the downtown centre, but we think it will be insane and crazy busy so maybe it will be better to stay closer to the apartment. I think its going to be a good night, Jose's mum, brother, aunty and cousin are coming so first we are going for dinner then to watch the concerts.
i am going to upload some pictures and videos from the last week.

Hello September

Hmm so I didn't blog much last week.. I did have time, but i was not feeling very well- my sinusitus problems returned, and after much thinking and internet researching I have put it down to too much dairy.. cheese mainly! Anyway I have not eaten dairy for 3 days now and i am feeling so much better. I am going to start with some eggs and yogurt next week because I do think calcium is important but just in much smaller quantities. Anyway that's my long excuse.
The weekend went by so quickly.. Friday we went to an area called La Condesa, t's my favourite part of the city, we had dinner at a french style cafe restaurant... lots of dark red paint, candles and fairy lights-I loved it.
Saturday we went to the mall alll day.. and then in the evening we went out dancing so by Sunday we were completely exhausted. Sunday was just rest, watching movies, I made a green salsa chicken dish and a veggie stirfry which was rather good if i do say so and then an early night!
This week so far is going well, crappy weather, every time is leave the house it starts to rain! Tonight I have my later class and tomorrow i start a new class with a son and mom in a very wealthy area so that should be interesting...
Next Wednesday is a big National holiday, it will be 200 years of independence and 100 since the Revlution so no work wed and thur.. and knowing Mexico probably not Friday either! On the 25th Jose and I have been invited to a wedding, it will be my first Mexican wedding so I am quite excited. Its an evening wedding here in the City so probably will be a little different. Then on the 2nd of October we have tickets to go and see the Black Eyed Peas with David Guetta which I cannot wait for :-) Anyways speak soon! xxxxxxxx
p.s feels weird that Uvic Starts today! Good luck xxxxx
